Ender's Game. It's about a young boy taken to a battle school to learn to fight aliens. It's categorized as science fiction, but it's one of those books that pretty much everyone likes. It's a great story with great characters. The sci-fi is really just the backdrop of the story. My wife, who doesn't read anything, loved this book. And my mom, who loves mysteries, loved this book also.

My favorite book is The Cay. It's one of the first books that I read cover to cover AND enjoyed! I don't enjoy reading. It doesn't come easy to me so when something consumes me like that it's a winner! I think I'll go home and find it, and read it again!

It's so hard to pick a favorite one!! I have sooo many!! I have to say my favorite author is Laurlene McDanelle, because almost all the books she writes are about young people getting cancer. They are fiction, but they are very inspiring and touching!!

An autobiography by Jill Taylor, Brain Scientist who at 37 had a stroke and it took her eight years to recover and she still can't recall anything prior to that December morning. Family, friends, accomplishments, etc - all gone. The book is titled: My Stroke of Insight and it changed my life and how I think about things and it will change your life too.

I highly recommended this book to other brain tumor survivors, care givers and family and friends of those effected by this disease.

I'm probably too late to qualify, but I just wanted to share.
Even though I have many favorites from all catagories, the one book that I have that is full of little slips of paper marking pages and too many underlined passages to count is, "Dear Theo", a collection of letters by Vincent Van Gogh to his brother. Often he's thought of as the troubled guy who cut off his ear. But he was so caring, wise, passionate, and compassionate. He writes beautifully; his letters are as moving as his paintings.
