Hi,
I have an oligioastrosytoma (mostly oligio) somewhere between II and IIi, with the deletions. I had amazing surgery with a total ressection last Septemeber. Then I was on 6 weeks of Temodar while I had radiation. Folliwing radiation, I am about to start my 12th dose of Temodar (5 days on 28 day off). I've done great in terms of my blood work but, despite taking 5 anti-nausea drugs I am horribly nauseaus. I basically don't eat for about 5 days and then for 2 I can introduce soup.

My doctor has said that it might be worth giving my bone marrow a break (though my platetels have always been high). She said that we don't want to knock it out when we might need it later. All my scans are perfect. I have heard of people taking Temodar for 24 months so am very confused.

Please help!

I have been doing a lot of research. Sloan Kettering has a very good website. I had radiation last winter and am on Temodar for 5 days per month. The exciting thing to me is that there are food based supplements that really help. I am curious if anyone has tried them. The ones that keep coming up over and over are Tumeric (Curcumin), Green Tea, Reseveritol, and Shitake or Maitake Mushrooms . I also have been taking DHA since I am a vegetarian. Most people take this everyday but I stop a few days before and after chemo. If anyone has had success with these alternative treatments I would love to know. The data looks really promising.
Thanks,

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has bad permanent hair loss. I finished radiation for a mixed glioma in January. I'm doing great, and my hair has all come back in except the area around the tumor and about 5-6 inches. Looks pretty weird and if this is all I have to deal with I'll be thankful, but my doctor told me yesterday that it may not ever come back. Has anyone had the experience and what did you do about it. Mine is right up front so I can't cover it up.
Thanks,

Hi,

My husband(27 years old) was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor called Prolactinoma. in August 2010. His prolactin was 2500 and Testosterone was 94. He was on cabergolines and there has been a significant change in his weight etc. As of January 2010 he has lost 16 pounds and feels great. His Testosterone was 354 in Jan 2011 we checked. We are from India.

Since he had low testosterone which led to partial erectile dysfunction we had no sex life. Now when his tumor has reduced and his testosterone has increased, he thinks that he missed out on alot in life in the past 5-6 years and wants a divorce. So now he can try out more girls. And since he is emotionally connected with me he cant cheat on me, so he wants a divorce. I am a brown, slim girl and he says he is attracted to fair/Caucasian girls.

Is there someone on this forum who i can connect with, do all prolactinoma survivor's spouses go through this?

Does this topic relate here or at a psychologists website.

Thanks let me know,

Hi,
I had surgery on October 22nd. I fell off a bike and had my head scanned just to be sure. No injury from the bike accident but I discovered I had a brain tumor. It came back as mostly oligio and some astrocytoma. I have been at NIH. They graded it a II and Boston General graded it a III. I have the deletions so I guess that is good. I am almost done with Temodar every day and radiation for 5 days for 6 weeks. They said that it would be good to go in heavy and get it all out since I had a total resection. I am so confused because the outside oncologist says this will come back before 5 years and the NIH team says the prognosis is good. They say they just don't have enough data on these tumors yet. Everyone has a different view. I am so scared because I don't know how to plan my life. Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
I am newly diagnosed with oligoastrocytoma grade III. I had a complete resection of the tumor in my left frontal lobe on Jan 4th (although I was told it is impossible to get it all) and am currently waiting for the 1p/19q testing to come back before I can start treatment.
I am looking for others with the same tumor type who can share their stories or possibly offer advice. I know everyone is different and no two tumors are the same, but it helps to talk to others who have gone through similar experiences. Thanks for reading!
