Tumour has moved the position of my mums brain ... ?
    By NicoleBouzon
My mum (age 52) was diagnosed with a brain tumour last Tuesday after being admitted into hospital with sever head / neck pains and seizures causing her to fall to floor and black out.  She has been moved to a specialist neurologist’s hospital now and they are currently doing the remainder of MRI scans and dye scans to find out more.  She is currently very confused, her balance is unsteady and can hardly walk. Its quite distressing to see her in that way.

We are currently waiting for the results of the tests but one thing the nurse did mention was that the tumour has moved the position of her brain.  She has asked for us to talk to the consultant but as of yet we haven’t not been able to.  Can anyone explain anything about this? It sounds terrible, can the brain move back, is this very damaging?

    Thank you for your help!

    Hello, Nicole,
Welcome to the forum.  I understand your distress and confusion, as it is very hard to
wait for results from all the tests.

I want to tell you that, yes, the brain can move back into its proper place, after
a tumor has been removed.  My husband's tumor was tangerine-sized; the MRI
taken 6 months after the resection (removal of tumor surgery) showed that his
brain had gradually shifted back into that space, allowing for normal brain
    and optic functions.

Write down all your questions for the doctors, and take very good notes when you talk
to them; it will help you a lot during the next few weeks and months.

Keep us posted; many of the people here, including me, post that they pray for
those patients and family members, and their medical teams.
