status: Been doing well. The 'bump' by the nose doesn't bother me any more as I have drastically reduced my physical activity. And when I exercise, I try to avoid putting my head in a 'bad' position. It's been working well. I've been able to do some light cooking with the microwave/steampot and sometimes making sandwiches. Spring is here, life is good!

It's all 'in my head'!

Felt like a 'normal' person today.

Found my oldest entry here about the Sattellite TV - glad to report that the TV problem has been fixed. No, we did not get an electrician or the Cable guy. Because my Internet connection was having problems (very slow and then caught a virus), I switched to a High Speed Internet service via Sattellite and installed an anti-virus program. Once the phone line was no longer connected to my PC for the Internet, my TV started to work better.

I then found in the Sattellite TV guide that the phone line is supposed to be connected all the time for the TV to work.

The TV problem had been bugged me for over a year. So glad the 'mystery' is finally resolved. So now I can work on the computer while watching TV - if there's a good program/movie. :)

Mike Day: I'm glad you're feeling "normal". That is a rarity once you've had a brain tumor, and especially after surgery.

From reading "your stuff" you've been through a lot.

What is a "Life-long Central Neurocytoma"?
Jackie2: 'Central Neurocytoma' is a rare brain tumor originated from our central nervous system (the brain and the spinal cord) It grew from the 'neuron' - the main body of a nerve cell.

It's usually benigh - though nothing inside of a confined space can be consiered 'benigh' especially when it gets too big for the brain to contain.

Mine was (now 'are' - because I've got 3 growing out of the residue tumor) in the right Lateral Ventricle of the brain, a typical location for Central Neurocytoma. Most of the symptoms are caused by increased cranial pressure because the tumor displaced the cerebral spinal fluid filled inside of the ventricles. I suffered from headaches since I was little - had been accused to be 'lazy' until the tumor was found when I was 30. (Then I became the 'perfect' one! :)

Based on the symptoms I'd had since I was little, the doctors believed that I was born with it - likely an imprint from the 'birthmark' (hemangioma) on top of my father's forehead. [One of the first questions my neurosurgeon asked me was whether any of my family members had a birthmark on their head.]

Being a 'trauma patient', I gets 'paranoid' quite easily especially when I experiences memory lapse. Whenever I am under pressure and not allowed time to sort out (I always have to 'deduce') what had just 'happened', my brain would 'froze' and not able to think straight.

My original surgery was 20 years ago. And the Gamma-knife radiosurgery was done in 2001. Currently I am experiecing headaches and sleep problems because the tumors are growing. Probably will need to have another Gamma-knife soon. The dead tumor cells always 'calcify' and will need craniotomy if I wait too long.
Jackie2: Almost four months have passed. Had an MRI last week. Am waiting for a CT scan next week. The radiation oncologist said that my radiosurgery is most likely going to be scheduled in January.

A new member of my on-line breast cancer support group used to be an OR nurse and is familiar with the radiosurgery using Novalis TX. She said I should be fine undergoing the procedure.

Now let's see if I can set up that Christmas tree all by myself... :)
