Hello. My heart aches for your situation. Was your husband on Temodar during the radiation period?
Bob did well the first 3 weeks of radiation/chemo. Then he started feeling tired and sick. It was like watching my vibrant loving husband become an old man so quick. I just wanted to shout out, "WHY!".
Bob starts his 3rd session of Temodar in less than 2 weeks, if the MRI and white blood count is ok. He does well for a couple of days, then I see him tire more and more. His taste buds are awful. However, he doesn't get real sick.
Bob stays pretty positive with bouts of complaining about how he feels. He doesn't have the stamina that he used to. He seems to sit and watch alot more tv and takes alot more naps. He has lost interest in many aspects of our life. I have taken control of just about everything in the house. He has had mood swings and also blames the computer for not working right as well as his cell phone.
You have to stay strong. Otherwise, he will see your fear. I have fallen apart in front of Bob only two times and he didn't know how to react. So, I made a promise to myself not to do that anymore. I have such a wonderful family/friendship support and that helps with my weak times. I certainly hope you have that. You need to vent with someone other than your husband.
I am glad we have connected. I will stay by you for as long as you want me to.
Where was your husbands tumor located by the way? My husbands was in the left temporal lobe.
Blessings to you. Susanne

Sus - Your husband seems to be a month behind my husband, who is 57. He had his surgery Aug. 1, which was successful at getting as much as possible (considered removed). He started chemo/radiation and a trial drug in Sept. and finished the middle of Oct. After a four week break he started the 5/23 temodar, but got progressively sicker, and was hospitalized after the 2nd 5 days. He got better, and tried round 3 at a reduced dose, but after 2 days, he had to stop. He couldn't eat or drink, had terrible stomach pain, lost weight rapidly,
weak, etc. Now he is getting back to normal as far as eating, up and around, outside. He is still getting a trial drug (cilengitide) by IV twice a week, but no more temodar for him. His body couldn't handle it He's had two MRIs since radiation, with no regrowth. He'll have another one in 4 weeks. It's been a roller coaster with his anger, confusion, short term memory loss, etc. which I think you mentioned also. He thinks things aren't working the same way they used to, like the computer. He has trouble with the telephone sometimes also. He is getting frustrated because he can't do all the things he wants to do and is weak from losing so much weight.(50
lbs. since the beginning). It's hard for me to remain calm. Sometimes, I just don't tell him what's going on in other areas. How are you and your husband doing?

Hi there. Hope you are doing well. Bob has gone through 2 chemo treatments (5/23). His white blood cell count was a bit low last month, however, his oncologist said to go ahead with treatment. He will have his next MRI and Dr. appt next week.
Bob grow tired quickly and naps alot. He does try to do projects and stay active daily. He just doesn't have the stamina that he did before the cancer.
Tell me your story. Do you know all of ours?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
