Thanks for the tip on the book and the movie, Amygdala. I am intrigued that you could regain deficits lost from surgery 21 years ago! Sorry, I've been so busy, I haven't had time to spend on this site, and respond to your post. I'll tell you more via e-mail.

Hey Mike,
I am doing very well. I recently came across an endlessly insightful book called "The Brain that Changes Itself" by Norman Doidge MD. It's a book that collects the cutting edge discoveries involving neuroplasticity and the brains ability to adapt and relearn functional deficits resulting from TBI. It's basically right up my ally.
Through this book, the resources it provides, and some time crawling around the web, I've discovered some very useful tools for identifying and recouping some of the deficits resulting from my brain surgery. It's funny, for the past twenty years or so, I spent so much time trying to fix myself, I never realized that I didn't quite know what was wrong! :) It's kinda strange.
Have you ever seen the film 'forks over knives'?
http://www.forksoverknives.com/It's
a pretty good movie. It talks about health and a large scale study called 'the china experiment' that has unveiled a strong correlation between consuming excess meat products and cancer and heart disease. I think they paint their picture with a broad brush, but all and all the movie is very insightful. I would strongly recommend it.
Tell me more of what is going on with yourself. I would like to know.

Hey Mike,
I just stopped by to wish you well on the mid february MRI. It was 21 years ago on February 12th that I was fortunate enough to come out of surgery alive. I'll cross my fingers for you and I wish you all the best. :)

The Amygdala
Hi Amygdala,
Sorry I haven't been on this site much. But, I'm doing well. The reversal in my symptoms was short-lived, thankfully. And, I'm back to living fairly normally brain wise. Thanks for your well wishes. Its' been a busy summer for me. My youngest son graduated from college and got married in June. And, I've been traveling almost every weekend, and keeping up with a busy job, church stuff, and sticking to the healthy practices. But, things will slow down for a few weeks.. that's good. One thing I found helped me make progress on brain symptoms again was dropping even natural forms of sugar (besides what I get in fruit). That was hard, because I have a sweet tooth. But, I'd read that "cancer loves sugar - and go off it cold turkey". I believe that now. Again, not fun. But, I love life and a healthy brain more than sugar. So, the choice is easy.
How about you? Are you still enjoying work?

Hey Mike,
I've been there before, but sometimes when were conscious of symptoms they become more acute. It's probably nothing. If you ever want to contact me via email, feel free: alex.amitrano@gmail.com

Thanks for saying, Hi, Amygdala. I'm glad to see you are "enjoying work". That sounds good. I'm updating my status, because my symptoms have been mysteriously going backward.
